The Flash | Season 7 Episode 14 - "Rayo de Luz"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello everyone!

So here we have it again - another boring The Flash episode. And once more, another episode that sort of has a nice message behind it but falls really flat. Well, now that I think about it, I don't even understand how they went through with this one because this whole episode shows what is wrong with the show this season - the whole thing about defeating people with words/love.

Someone pointed out to me on twitter that it's actually a nice message, which it is - like showing that with love and some compassion people can change - but this is a superhero show, you don't want to see the bad guys be defeated with love. I mean, once a while, with one or two villains sure, but not the overall arc of an entire season! That's just boring! And that's what I've been feeling in all this past episodes. I want to pay attention to it because there's interesting things, but the overall plot is so lame and not well execute that I just loose my interest and become so bored. And that was the case with this episode.

This whole episode was about Allegra and I'm pretty sure this episode was only made so Allegra could 'transform' into a more powerful hero which, to be honest, that last part with her going 'supernova' and glowing was beautiful, I liked that, but the rest of the episode was not good. It's also a shame because this was the episode directed by Danielle Panabaker and she deserved a better episode. Again, there were parts that I liked, such as that ending part and Sue. I think Sue was such a nice addition to the team, it's just a bummer that every time I look at her, I just think about Ralph and I get mad about the producers firing Hartley... But overall, I like having her around - she brings a sassyness to the team.

Then, besides the Allegra story-line with her cousin, which I said was lame, there was also the Joe story with him investigating the FBI lady and... that also went downhill. It looked pretty interesting in the beginning and Joe was finding some dirt on her but of course the writers had to redeem her and give her a sad story that I do not care about. I couldn't care less about her brother that isn't even her brother. The writers are just adding a bunch of story-lines that are boring as hell and I'm seriously loosing faith in this season.

The episode did end with an interesting scene between Frost and Chill-bane and that I'm interested in so, at least, there's still some nice things here and there, and the next episode is finally the one with Godspeed and I'm hoping Barry won't be able to defeat him with words so I'm expecting some action therefore a better episode.

Oh, and I completely forgot to mention, the reason why think this episode shows everything wrong with this season is because Allegra tries to get through to her cousin with words, saying that would be what Barry would do and it didn't work, her cousin still betrayed her so... there you have it writers - it didn't work as a power and it doesn't work as a story-line so just give up and give us some action.

Okay, I'm done. Don't forget to let me know what you thought about this episode and if you agree with me that Danielle deserved a better episode and yeah... I'll see you in my next rant!

Love,

Daniela.

The Flash | Season 7 Episode 13 - "Masquerade"

Spoiler Alert!

Hey!

Here I am again to talk about The Flash and, unfortunately, I don't bring good news.

That's right, The Flash is back to their not so great episodes, and one might say that this is because this is the first episode without Cisco and... It's not! To be completely honest, I didn't even miss him that much. Heck, if it wasn't for the characters saying over and over again that Cisco wasn't with them anymore I wouldn't even think about that. The truth is, this is not the first time that Cisco has been absent from a number of episodes, so it's natural that I wouldn't pay that much attention to that. Anyway, Cisco not being around isn't the reason why this episode was bad - the directing and writing was.

It really pains me to say this because, in a way, I really connected with this episode and I see how important it is but... They went about the wrong way.

So this episode picks up basically right after where the last one left of, with that scene with Cecile seeing a mask in the mirror. Well, we learn right in the beginning of the episode that Cecile isn't Cecile and someone (or something) is controlling her. That part was fun. I was invested in learning more about was happening and I wanted to know who was doing this. But then everything fell apart when it's revealed that it's a mask that is 'controlling' Cecile. But the thing is, I don't think the mask is the reason why Cecile is trapped somewhere - because then we learn that Cecile has a dark side to her and that's what keeping her from getting out of her head, and this is also when I get conflicted.

The thing is that this whole Cecile thing is about mental health and I loved that they explained how someone feels and the metaphor of being trapped inside your own head with yourself as your enemy is great, but the way they went about it really s*cked. The directing was awful and the 'dark Cecile' was so cliché! Plus, the writing of the episode, where the story went and everything made no sense (to the point that I don't even know what that mask was doing). Yes, it was a mess.

There's one nice thing about the episode though - Sue Dearborn. Yes, she came by herself (and yes, I'm still salty about the whole Ralph/Hartley thing) but she brought a different dynamic to the Team. And I'm also excited that, apparently, she's going to stick around for a few episodes (at least, she will be in the next one). The truth is, with so many characters leaving, they have to bring new people into the Team, which leads me to the whole Chester story-line in this episode.

Don't get me wrong, I like Chester and this episode actually made me like him even more, but this thing about not belonging to the Team is a bit old. I don't know if they have done this before or not, but it just seems way too cheesy and unnecessary. I don't know, I wasn't a fan of that story-line... But again, I wasn't a fan of this episode in general so...

But, the episode does end with something exciting. Turns out Joe is looking into that FBI lady (who I now know is called Agent Kramer - any connection to John Kramer aka Jigsaw?) and he's finding out some dirt on her so... This looks like a promising story-line - let's hope they don't ruin it.

So I guess that's it for me. Mixed feelings towards this episode but, in the end, I wasn't fan - mainly because of the execution. Let me know what you thought of the episode and if you feel like me - important story but handled in the wrong way - and I'll talk to you in my next rant!

Love,

Daniela.

The Flash | Season 7 Episode 12 - "Good-Bye Vibrations"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello!

I know, I know... I'm super late with this post (to the point where the new episode airs today), but this past week was pretty hard for me on a mental health level and I was not in the mood to write so I just gave my mind the rest that it needed. I hope you understand. Hopefully the next rant won't come this late.

Now that you know what happened and why this post is coming to late, let's talk about the actual episode.

I actually watched this the day it came out and I gotta say - this was one of the best episodes this season, and that is odd because this was the one where we said goodbye to Cisco. And that's exactly how the episode starts - with Cisco and Kamilla revealing to the Team that they are moving to Star City. And then the episode takes a weird turn. I mean, I understood what they were trying to do, but it didn't flow well.

Basically they made Cisco believe that neither Caitlin nor Barry cared that much that he was leaving, when in reality, they just didn't want to dissuade him so they pretended to not care. However that ended up with Cisco upset, because he felt like his friends didn't like him as much as he thought.

Meanwhile, there was a villain, obviously, and I kind of liked this villain. This was Rainbow Raider 2.0, a girl that created euphoric emotions on people. And, as expected, when Team Flash goes to fight her, this backfires on them and Cisco ends up 'under her spell', which leads to Barry being as well. That created some nice scenes, with Carlos and mostly Grant doing things that they don't usually do in the show, which is always a breath of fresh air. But, ultimately, Chester comes to the rescue and is able to get them both back to normal.

Well, in the end, not only Cisco reveals how he feels as well as Barry and Caitlin reveal their intent, but they also fight Rainbow Raider one more time and, guess what? They 'defeat' her with words... Yes, this again. I can forgive it this time though, because she wanted to do good but through not the best means so, for her, it kind of worked... But after them defeating the bad guys with words so many times... It just gets tiring and boring.

And yeah, the episode ends with a pretty nice scene with Joe, Barry, Cisco and Caitlin singing karaoke and, in the very end we see Cecile being confronted by a masked reflection of herself that tells her "I will find you". I have no idea what that means and where this story-line is going but we'll find out in today's episode so... We don't have to wait much longer.

So, I guess that's it. Once again, I'm sorry I took way too long to post this but I hope you can understand. I know there's not much time before the next episode airs but let me know what you thought of this episode - are you going to miss Cisco? What you thought of this farewell? What about this villain? Let me know everything and I'll talk to you, hopefully, tomorrow.

Love,

Daniela.

The Challenge: All Stars | Season 1 Episode 10 - "Reunion"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello everybody!

Here I am with the only rant of the week. Also, unfortunately, this is also the last The Challenge rant for a while because there's no date yet for Season 37 so... It might take a while. That means that, for a couple of months, it will only be The Flash rants. But anyway, we're not here to talk about the other shows, we're here to talk about The Challenge: All Stars, so let's do it!

This is the actual final episode of this season/show - the Reunion. However, because it is the reunion, it means there's not a ton of things to talk about. But I must say, this reunion was a lot more tamed than the reunions from the other seasons/show - it's visible that they're adults and I sort of liked it.

When it comes to the actual challenges, I feel like this series missed a bit of the drama that the other one has. True that the 'normal' season has a ton of unnecessary drama, but  the all stars season could've used a bit more drama - but not on the reunion. The reunion from the other series is bunch of people talking over each other and basically just creating more drama and washing dirty laundry. That was not what happened here. They did get into some dramas but it was pretty civil. What I did not like that much was the fact that not the whole cast was there. Not even the majority, and that was noticeable because they talked a lot about people that weren't there and that's not really nice. I mean, I get that they had to go through stuff, but Kendal not being there to defend herself and KellyAnne being the one to do so... I didn't enjoy that.

Overall, it was a nice reunion. They talked about how they really felt old in the beginning of the season, they talked about the dramas between Trishelle and Katie, as well as the whole Arissa thing that, to me, was pretty iconic, but mostly because of TJ's comment, and they also talked about the drama between Jisela and Aneesa. Jisela was there to talk about it though, so that was sort of nice, but Aneesa wasn't there and, once again, it had to be Derrick to defend Aneesa. And actually, Jisela was basically the only one that rubbed me the wrong way. I really liked her in the beginning of the season, and I like that she's upfront and she says things like they are but... I don't know... This whole thing with Aneesa I think was too much and it was a bit of a stretch - she didn't need to be that mad. But like she said, it's her friendship and no one has to say anything about it.

Apart from that, they also talked about some hookups but nothing special, and Darrell commented on something that happened that we didn't see involving Beth getting stung by a Bee and Alton 'saving' her by sucking her toe... It was pretty hilarious!

Most of this episode was either pretty funny or pretty informational, when it comes to what happened behind the scenes and whatnot and, in the end, I really enjoyed Yes speech about winning and how he used his money - that was really nice and, just like Mark, I really think Yes as an amazing winner.

And that's it. This is the end of this new season of The Challenge. From what I read there will be a Season 2 of All Stars but until then, there will be a Season 37 before (I think). And, in the meantime, the only posts up will be The Flash so... I'll see you then!

Let me know what you thought of this new format - do you prefer the All Stars season? Or do you like the drama from the normal challenge? Tell me everything and I'll see you in my next rant!

Love,

Daniela.
