The Flash | Season 8 Episode 8 - "The Fire Next Time"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello people!

Back with one more The Flash rant and you know what? This episode was actually pretty good! Not as good as some from the early seasons, but definitely better that the episodes we have been having lately.

Honestly, what they are setting up with this episode looks pretty cool - let's just hope they can work with it in a way to keep us engaged. But basically this whole episode revolved around this guy that we have met before - Birch - who's arrested for the incineration of a bartender he was arguing with a night prior. However, when he's arrested, he says that he's innocent and begs them to believe him and to not take his son away from him. All of this reminds Barry of what happened with his own dad and that's how this episode is set up.

Throughout the whole episode Barry keeps saying that he believes that Birch is innocent (which I also did) even though no one in the Team believes him (also, the evidence is against the guy so... there's not much to hold on to).

After a talk with Joe, Barry decides that he will help Birch to clear his name and that's when another victim is found that Chester discovers that the methods of burning do not match Birch's abilities, therefore clearing his name. Post that, Flash and Frost stop Birch from kidnapping his son from social services and, with Birch's help, they stop a lava channel from erupting.

That ending was kind of lame but the ride and what they figured out by the end of the episode - that someone else is doing this killings, basically a meta serial killer - looks pretty interesting to me and I'm really curious to see what they do with it.

There was another story-line in this episode that, although not really that interesting, it did get on my nerves so... I guess it did it's job. It basically involved Allegra doing an article with Taylor about an influencer but Allegra doesn't believe in that story and goes against Iris' oders and writes an article about someone else that she knows from Iron Heights. Iris does agree to run Allegra's story but tells her that she needs to appologize to Taylor, which Allegra does, but Taylor doesn't take it well and promises to take her down. We'll see where this takes.

I must say that this serial killer thing is looking really promising and I hope they stick with that story-line for the remaining of the season. However, there's this whole side plot with Iris and her stuff disappearing and she forgetting time and... I don't know how all of this is going to connect. Hopefully everything will make sense in the end. But I guess that's it from me for now.

Let me know what you thought of this episode - do you think this is The Flash going back to it's early days? What do you think is going to happen with this meta serial killer? Tell me everything and I'll talk to you in my next rant!

Daniela

Peaky Blinders | Season 6 Episode 4 - "Sapphire"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello people!

Back with a new rant and now it's time to talk about Peaky Blinder's new episode which was incredible!

This is what I've been waiting for from Peaky Blinders! And actually, so much happened in this episode so let's get to it!

The episode opens up with the events of last week's episode - Ruby's death. We see the funeral, which was super sad, and we see the outcome - what Tommy does to who he thinks did this to Ruby. So he goes after that lady that first landed that curse on the Sapphire and just basically kills everyone! That is Tommy being Tommy and it truly shocked me, which was actually what I've been waiting this season - something really shocking!

After that, we get a really touching moment between Tommy and Arthur and, not to be repetitive here, that was something that I've also been waiting for. I don't know if I've mentioned that in one of my previous rants but Arthur is my favourite character on the show and, this season, we have been lacking on Arthur. I miss his outbursts and his wildness and, even though this season was far from wild, it was a lot more screen time, and a lot more bonding than everything that we've seen this season so far. Also, something else that we've been waiting for this season happened - Tommy is drinking again. Tommy isn't Tommy if he doesn't drink so again, back to true form. Which leads me to what happened next - the meeting where Tommy put his plan in action.

That meeting was actually pretty vague, with only everyone agreeing that they were fascists so Jack Nelson tells that to the US President. That's what I gathered from the meeting, but one thing is for sure - that scene was drenched in tension! Not only that but, at the same time, we see a scene with Ada where she is harassed because she has a black kid and then she tells Karl that he is half Jewish so... Ada's in big trouble here.

We also find out something huge about Gina - she has been sleeping with Mosley - which is actually gross, but works in Tommy's favor, since now he can use Gina (blackmailing her, of course) in order to get information about what Mosley does and how the Berlin meeting goes. Tommy is just so smart. However, what we've been scared of is happening.

The episode ends with Tommy finding out that he has a desease that came from Ruby that, although isn't as bad as Tuberculosis, it is still killing him and... Yes, he has about an year to live. We all knew that was how the series was going to end, didn't we? I mean, I was expecting him to die at the end. It will be heart-breaking but there was no other way the series could end. They can still surprise me though, and maybe he doesn't die - that would be a surprise! But I don't think so... I'm pretty positive he will die - I just hope his plan works and everything works out in the end, in a way.

But that's it for this episode. So many things and only two episodes left! I only discovered this show back in 2020 but I'm going to miss this so much! In the meantime, let me know your thoughts and theories and I'll talk to you soon!

Love,
Daniela.

The Flash | Season 8 Episode 7 - "Lockdown"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello people!

I know, I'm super late with this review, but the thing is I missed it when it aired and then I had to watch it the next day and personal stuff happened and then I just couldn't write about it even though I've seen the episode like 4 days ago... But anyway, I'm actually kind of bummed that I missed it live because this wasn't a bad episode! It wasn't anything special, but it was definitely better than some of the previous episodes - specially the last one!

And yes, I'm going to be that annoying person that is going to say that the reason this episode worked better was 1) this focused on Barry and 2) less Iris in this episode (which, from the looks of it, we are about to get a ton of Iris so... I'm gonna have to prepare for it).

But basically this whole episode revolves around the precinct and we actually have a ton of Barry in this episode instead of The Flash, which was refreshing!

The episode starts with Kramer complaining about The Flash dropping criminals all the time but not giving them the where and why and all the paperwork that she needs in order to book them and make a case against them. It is suggested that Flash should create a way for Kramer to talk to him in order to get these informations and that reminded me a lot of Batman. Maybe it was because I just saw the new film recently but it's basically what Gordon has with Batman - the Batsignal. However, Barry isn't really sure of it so, instead, as Barry Allen, he works a ton more to give Kramer that paperwork that she needs. And that's when the main plot of this episode starts - when Goldface attacks CCPD in search of bullets that can take away metahuman's powers and, in the process, takes everyone there hostage - giving everyone bracelets that, not only dampen their powers but also act as bombs.

A lot happens between Goldface, Kramer and Barry while trying to figure out where those bullets are but, ultimately, after Kramer's powers short-circuit those bracelets, Barry is able to inspire her to use her mimic powers to stall Goldface while Barry takes his bracelet off and defeats Goldface's crew as The Flash.

That part of the episode ends in a really interesting way - with The Flash going to Kramer to give her a way for her to contact them and with also Flash revealing that he's Barry - which was super fun because Kramer told him that she knew, and for the first time someone figured that Barry is The Flash! That was refreshing!

While all of this was going on, there was another side story with Caitlin and Frost - Frost who's now dating Mark and Caitlin, who's going out with a guy named Marcus, not being happy with Frost's dating life, which is just a refection of Caitlin's own insecurities about her own dating life. It was a nice touch to the episode but nothing really that exciting.

Lastly, as the episode is ending, we see objects in Joe's house disappearing and Iris loosing her sense of time, ending with Iris' eyes flashing green.

As I said, overall, it was a decent episode. I'm curious to find out more about this whole Iris thing but I also want more of Barry so... Hopefully we can accomplish both.

In the meantime let me know what you thought of this episode and I'm sorry I took so long with this rant! I'll be back later with my Peaky Blinders rant!

Love,
Daniela

Peaky Blinders | Season 6 Episode 3 - "Gold"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello people!

Back with a new Peaky Blinders episode and, honestly, this was way more interesting, dark and easy to understand. However, I still feel like this season doesn't live up to the previous ones. I don't know if it's due to Tommy's situation (the no drinking thing) or if it's because it's the last season and they want to tie everything together but... As of now, it doesn't look as interesting as the previous seasons.

Although, as I said, this episode was pretty good and a lot of important stuff happened! Not only we got a cameo from Esme (I hope she sticks around, to be honest) but we were also introduced to another new characters - Hayden Stagg - who appears when Arthur and Isaiah go beat him up but, somehow, Hayden Stagg changes Arthur's mind when he starts talking about his own addiction and how Arthur can change that. I seriously hope this whole thing with Arthur is resolved because I just want the old Arthur back. Actually, I want the old version of, basically, all the characters - apart from Ada.

Ada was f*cking amazing in this episode! Tommy sent her to run some errands while he's looking for Esme and Ada slapped in everything she did in this episode! Her interaction with Diana and Mosley and Gina and Mr. Nelson was gold! That might have been my favourite part of this whole episode, to be honest. But not only that, Ada also was great when she sent Isaiah and Arthur after that Hayden guy. She truly was the standout of this episode!

Lastly, there's the whole Ruby thing that, truly, was what drove this whole episode - what made all of this happen. I don't know why I never thought of that but, turns out, Ruby contracted tuberculosis and it doesn't look great for her. The doctors start on ther treatment but of course Tommy belives that there's something to do with a Gypsy curse and that's why he goes looking for Esme. He does find her but she has nothing to do with Ruby's curse. However, she does know of someone that might have put a curse on Tommy and that reveals a whole another plot that is way too complicated to explain here but basically traces back to that necklace Grace got back in Season 2 (the one that got her killed).

With that, Tommy promises to do a ton of things to make up for whatever he did but, when he gets back to the Hospital, Lizzie tells him that Ruby just died. And the credits roll.

It's super sad that Ruby died but, to be honest, I hope this is the catalyst for Tommy to get back to his old self and, honestly, just f*ck everyone over. I just want this show to end with a bang (Tommy can die at the end, but I hope a lot of other people die as well), and considering that this season only has 6 episodes... We're halfway through so... Let's hope this gets really good after this episode.

But that's it from me. Let me know what you thought of this episode and how to you compare this season to all the other ones, and I'll talk to you soon!

Love,
Daniela

The Flash | Season 8 Episode 6 - "Impulsive Excessive Disorder"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello!

As promised, here I am with a brand new The Flash rant!

That's right, The Flash is back and... I gotta be honest - I wasn't that excited about it. You know how I've been feeling towards The Flash... I just feel like they lost it's way and don't really know what to do with the show anymore. And this episode just proves that.

We, fans, have been saying this over and over again but still... The producers don't listen. The whole traveling to the past and to the future was fun and all for a while but now just looks like a rehashed story-line. We've seen this time and time again and we're tired. Some people did enjoy this episode because of Nora and Bart but honestly, I'm not a fan of either of them. Nora was fine in the beginning but then she became so annoying, and the same is happening with her brother. Bart is just flat out annoying and I didn't really like it since the first time he showed up. But I get it - people like them because of the comics, but because I'm not attached to the comics I can't really enjoy them as characters. I did sort of enjoy Nora in this episode, sort of... There were moments where they were likable and entertaining but, honestly, this whole episode just felt really pointless...

This episode was just focused on the 'kids' and how they screwed up the time-line when they helped defeat Godspeed (which, honestly, I barely remember how that story-line ended) and them trying to fix things up. Again, most of their interactions were cringy and kind of annoying and we barely got any Barry in this episode.

What I did like about the episode was Eddie being back (although, again, I can hardly remember his character because it has been so long since he was in the show), I also liked the new character - Avery - who I hope sticks around in the next episodes, and I liked the explanation of how the Royal Flush Gang was created. Those were the things that I did enjoy about the episode, everything else was pointless and not that entertaining.

How the episode ended was also interesting - we got back to the present and, after Team Flash leaves for bruch, a comb disappears in a green light - so... I'm curious.

But that's it. Not a lot to talk about nor anything really memorable about this episode, but let me know what you thought of the episode - are you a fan of Bart and Nora? Did you like to see Eddie back? What about the new girl Avery? Tell me everything and I'll see you next week with more rants!

Daniela

Peaky Blinders | Season 6 Episode 2 - "Black Shirt"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello people!

Back with a new Peaky Blinders episode and the plot thickens!

In a way, I did like this episode a lot more than the previous one - we got to know more about what is indeed happening, we were introducted to some new major new characters and there's great ones back, one being Oswald Mosley.

As much as we don't like him because he's just bad, I'm happy that he's sort of the bad guy in this season. It's not really clear who's the bad guy, actually, but he was such a major character last season and such an important villain that, as I said in my last post, he was just a missed oportunity if they didn't brought him back. Also, the fact that he's still around, four years later, might mean that we could see Hitler in this season (which, honestly, it's s touchy subject at the moment, considering everything that his going on in the world and in Europe).

But, as I said, Mosley isn't alone and with him his a brand new character - Diane Mitford - who Steven Knight said would be a good match for Tommy so I'm expecting wicked things from her. We already got a taste from it, when they all meet (Tommy, Lizzie, Diane and Mosley), whcih was a great scene.

The scene that everyone fricked out about, however, was the one with Alfie Solomons back! That's right, Alfie is back, which we kind of expected because Tommy did mention the Solomons family last episode. Still, it is indeed great to see Tommy and Alfie and, as per usual, Tommy is cutting deals with every single person - Alfie, Mosley, the IRA and Jack Nelson. Yes, we finally meet Uncle Jack which was... different. He's not exaclty how I pictured him, but that's not exactly a bad thing. We also learned in this episode that Jack Nelson is also a fascist so... Yes, this entire season will be about fascism, which leads me to believe even more that we will meet Hitler at some point.

Lastly, after meeting with everyone and just leaving me so confused about what exactly is his plan, the scariest part of the episode was actually the last bit with Ruby sick again to the point that Tommy has to contact Esme! That left me pretty excited, I'm not gonna lie, but I'm afraid something bad will happen to Ruby and, on top of that, we also find out in this episode that Tommy has been having seizures so... That's not going to end well.

But I guess that was pretty much it for this episode. Again, I'm still pretty confused about what is going on and what Tommy's plan is but, as per usual, I'm pretty sure we will figure it out in the end and it will be mindblowing!

Oh, and I completely forgot to mention my favourite character, Arthur, who's still so messed up but we have hope though - Tommy has contacted Linda and there might be a chance for her to come back so... We'll see. I'm not a huge fan of Linda, to be honest, but I do want to see Arthur happy and if it is Linda that he needs, let her come back.

Okay, that's it for real now. I've seen some theories going around that I do like and that do make sense but let me what are you theories and if you figured what his Tommy's plan in the middle of all of this. Also tell me what you thought of this episode and what is your opinion on this season so far and I'll talk to you pretty soon with a brand new The Flash rant!

Love,

Daniela.

Peaky Blinders | Season 6 Episode 1 - "Black Day"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello people!

That's right, I'm back with a new post and a brand new series! I mean, it's not exactly a new series - it's an 'old' one - but it's a new one here on the blog! Unfortunately, it's going to be a one time thing because Season 6 is Peaky Blinders' last season so... Started too late but oh well...

I actually just discovered Peaky Blinders while on quarantine, back in 2020, and I became obsessed with it! I rewatched the whole series twice in a month and I really went all out on getting every piece of merch I could get my hands on during that time... So, of course, I knew that when the new season would start, I would have to write about it. Unfortunately, at that time, I didn't know Season 6 would be the last one... But still, I'm pretty stoked to talk to you about what has become one of my all time favourite shows! So let's get to it!

It's really interesting because, althought I remembered very vividly everything about last season (Season 5), it just felt odd the start of this new one. Maybe it's because it's exactly that, the start of a new, maybe it's because I'm off  that high of being obsessed with the show, or maybe it's just because it's a completely different storyline.

Yes, although the last season ended with a huge cliffhanger, and this first episode started right where the last one ended, that was just really the beginning. After a few scenes we fast-forward 4 years and... A lot has changed...

Not only we lost a few more members of the Shelby family (one of them being Polly, which is so sad... We knew that would happen, which I guess makes it even more sad) but Tommy has changed (in a few things...), one of the main ones - he stopped drinking! Say what?! Tommy Shelby stopped drinking and now drinks water?! I can sense that becoming a meme amongst the fans of the show...

On the flip side, Arthur is drinking more than ever and, from what I understood, he's also taking drugs - opium - which that is the main subject of this season.

Tommy has now turn is back on the whiskey market and now wants to sell opium. And after the scenes with the funerals for the people that died last season, when we fast forward 4 years, we see Tommy heading to a meeting with Michael, who he hasn't spoken since Polly's death. This whole thing is a huge plan, as we can imagine, which ends (for now) with Michael in prison for the possession of opium.

By now we already know who the villain is this season - Michael. We already knew he was going to be, but now it's clear. However, I think there's a bigger player here - Uncle Jack.

I believe we haven't met him yet but he's Gina's uncle and he's a south Boston gang leader so... Something tells me this will end up involving those Irish Boston gangs and the Italians (as Tommy mentions in the episode) just like in The Irishman or The Godfather.

Those were the main plot points of the episode. But I guess another huge thing was the phone call Tommy got from Lizzie at the end of the episode mentioning what Ruby said while in delirium from a fever - something in gypsy language that, after looking it up, looks like it translates to 'baby dying/baby ghost, oh devil'. That part looks really interesting so I'm curious to see where that leads.

After that Tommy decides to head back to England and that's how the episode ends - with Tommy pissing off Michael about Gina also going to England and Tommy showing Londong to her. Looks promising!

All in all, I really vibed with the cinematography and soundtrack, as always, but I'm still not 100% in with the story. It's pretty different from the other seasons and the completely dropped the whole Oswald Mosley storyline which was really interesting... I should've expected that, to be honest, because they usually do that in the beginning of a new season but I didn't so... Yeah, that's it from me.

Let me know your thoughts on the episode and tell me if you're a fan of the series and for how long have you been watching it! I'm really excited to see all your thoughts and predictions - it's a new show here on the blog so let's talk about it!

But that's it now... Talk to you next week (The Flash is back!).

Love,
Daniela.
