Supernatural | Season 13 Episode 8 - "The Scorpion and the Frog"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello everyone!
I'm back, after a crazy week full of crossover rants with a brand new Supernatural rant!
Although this wasn't my favourite episode, this was a special one to me because I got to like tweet during this episode again! Last year I didn't have classes on Friday, so I was able to watch the episode on Thursday night (at 1am here in Portugal) but, because this year I do have classes on Friday (right at 8am) I can't watch the episodes live. But, this week (and next week as well) Friday's are day off here in Portugal so I was able to watch it live and it made me so happy!
So, like I said, this episode wasn't my favourite but I can see a lot of good things in it.
This wasn't a normal 'case of the week' episode. With everything that happened with Jack being gone, the brothers keep on searching for him and that's when a crossroad demon (aka the new Crowley) approaches them with half of a spell that can track nephilims.
Of course this is too good to be true and of course this demon wants something in return and in order to give them the other half of the spell. Turns out, this demon wants something from someone.
In the beginning, the brothers don't want do it, but the demon - Bart - says that if they don't help, he might as well give Asmodeus the spell and Sam and Dean don't want that, so they agree to do whatever he wants them to do.
Looks simplre in the beginning - enter someone else's home, go into an hidden room and steal something that is behind another door.
To this, the brothers meet Bart's 'team', which include an human girl and a demon. They all play some part in this plan and they are all needed. The boys are needed because in order to open that 'hidden room' they need blood from someone that has gone to hell and back - Dean.
This is when things get pretty funny.
Actually, the best thing about this episode was the comedy, because everything else was pretty obvious.
So, Sam is the distraction, presenting this guy (who is an assassin and that has gone to hell and back as well) something supernatural and rare, while Dean and the girl, Alice, work on finding and opening this hidden door.
Something has to go wrong, right?! So, that's exactly what happens and Sam is discovered and this guy almost kills him but he doesn't, and then goes after Dean.
In a really comic way, they are able to knock him out (since he can't die while he's in his house) and tie him up. Then, they face another challenge, getting into some type of vault which has some traps so, in order to do that, another pretty funny scene, they send the guys in and he's shot and everything but because he's in his house he doesn't die, and the guys are able to get what they went there for.
As they are about to leave, they see that the other guy got himself free but is nowhere to be seen so they just leave. They are then chased and after stopping the guy explains why Bart wants what he has and we find that inside the coffin that they stole there's Bart's bones.
Then, Bart appears an just cuts off the other guy's head, which was pretty shocking to me, and then he basically threatens Alice, who are basically doing that because she made a deal with Bart.
They are able to also trick Bart and burn his bones in the end but... The other half of the spell burns too (since Bart had it in his hand) and... The episode basically ends like that.
Alice goes away and the boys just get back to the bunker trying to find another way to locate Jack.
I don't know, but this didn't seem all bad to me... They still have half of the spell, there might be someone who knows the other half so they can always start with that. But, the preview for next episode didn't look that good to be honest. It looks like Asmodeus finds Jack and Jack starts working for him. I might be wrong but that's what it looked like to me.
Next week's episode is also the mid-season finale so it will most likely end in a shocking way so, I'm prepared for that.
Let me know what your predictions are for next episode and I'll see you next week with new rants!
Love,
Daniela.
