American Horror Story: Double Feature | Season 10 Episode 1 - "Cape Fear"

Spoiler Alert!

Heya!

I'm back, as promised, with a brand new season of American Horror Story and, as per usual, I'm pretty stoked about it!

I don't want to jinx it but this season looks promising. Not only they went in a different route with this season having two stories (if they connect or not, I don't know yet) but also most of the cast that we love from the first seasons is back - Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Billie Lourd... And, the surprise of the season - Macaulay Culkin! Who, to be honest, is one of the reasons why I was super curious about this season. We haven't seen much of him in this first episode but from what we've seen, it looks promising and his character looks like a fun one so... We'll see. But, let's dive into everything that we found out about in this first episode.

So this episode starts of with Harry, Doris and their daughter Alma moving from the city to Provincetown, Massachusetts, with the intent of Harry finishing writing his pilot and Doris decorating the house where they were staying.

Right away their daughter, Alma, starts seeing some weird stuff and, to be honest, I liked how super aware she was. Overall, this characters were smart characters. Alma stated that the house looked haunted, after an incident where Doris and Alma were stalked by a pale man they ran home and called the police and, in the end of the episode, when the same pale man entered the house and Harry killed him, the family decides to just get away from there. Obviously, we know that they're staying otherwise there was no season. But, overall, they were smart characters! But, as I said, there had to be a way for them to stay and that's when Evan Peters' character - Austin Sommers - comes into play.

Prior to the pale man entering the house, Harry went to a bar where he met Belle Noir (Frances Conroy) and Austin Summers, who are both writers. They talked about inspirations and whatnot and then Harry went back home and that's when the breaking and entering happens.

It's the next morning that Austin calls Harry saying that he has the cure for his writers block and Harry goes to Austin's house. There, Austin gives Harry a plastic baggie of black pills. Harry is hesitant to take them but he still takes them home in his pocket. That's when his agent calls him encouraging him to stay in Provincetown saying that he needs to finish that pilot and Harry takes the pill and the episode ends like that.

Overall it was a decent pilot. I loved the feel of it and the directing choices where great, as well as the acting, obviously. It's pretty obvious to me, to be honest, that this is about vampires, so I just hope there's some type of twist on this vampires thing. Maybe it's about mermaids that drink blood?! I don't know... As of now it looks like it's vampires but I hope there's more to it.

Anyway, it looks like we have, once again, another decent pilot so, let's just pray this doesn't go downhill (as it usually does). Let me know what you thought of this first episode (no spoilers for the next one, please) and I'll see you pretty soon with my rant of the second episode!

Love,

Daniela.
