The Sinner | Season 4 Episode 5 - "Part V"

Spoiler Alert!

Hello everyone!

Back with the last couple episodes of The Sinner (as of now) and this one ended with another bang!

As if one dead body wasn't enough, now we have one more. And there's still one death to uncover!

Most of this episode was a little bit boring, I gotta be honest. Though, once again, they played us really well. I saw some people theorize that the docs girl - Em Castillo's - was involved and, turns out she really was! In fact, she was involved with the whole 'ritual' thing, although I quite enjoyed that bit.

Unlike in most series and movies, this rituals/cults look really out there but here it was really grounded and, actually, something I could get behind. The whole thing about loving earth and nature being your 'god' is some that speaks to me so I liked that whole approach.

Of course all of that was to explain what Percy was involved in and, although it wasn't anything creepy (at least, not as of now), we did discover the meaning behind those objects. We already knew who two of them belonged to and we kind of assumed that the star was Colin's (just like Harry assumed) but no - the cross was Colin's object, and the star represented someone that Percy blamed herself for the death of.

Obviously whatever happened, happened in Colin's boat, so my prediction is that Colin was present when the death happened and, to be honest, I think Colin did it. I think it probably was because Percy was dating a guy and Colin didn't like this guy and he was the one that killed him. But because Percy was there, she blamed herself for his death. However, the mystery doesn't end here.

The next day, after speaking to Em, Harry calls Sonya and in this call she tells him about some photos that the intruders took - good thing she saved them on the cloud so she sent them to Harry and surprise - there's something shady going on between two boats in one of those photos. And in that exact moment, when Harry is looking at those photos, Meg rings the bell and Harry takes the opportunity to ask about those boats, to which she says one of them belongs to Brandon. They go to the docs and, as the boat is approaching them, they realize the boat was on auto-pilot and no one was on board. That's when Meg sees something odd and... they find Brandon's body hanging (underwater) which a bullet in his skull.

Needless to say, I'm super curious about this whole thing because it looks like we might be wrong about a baby and whatnot. I said this and I say it again - the show is really playing us and, to be honest, I love that about it - we are truly following Harry's footsteps and following the clues, which is really smart storytelling.

Anyway, that's it for this episode but I'll be back pretty soon with the latest one! Until then...

Love,

Daniela.
